In Nov. 12 IssueWe noticed the sign this week at Fruit of The Loom stating, “Now Hiring.”
What better news could be presented to a community at this particular time in this economic situation.
We read a report just this week where the national unemployment rate, considering all those on unemployment and all others not working, this rate is estimated to be over 17 percent. Back in the great depression the rate exceeded 25%.
The national economists, or rather the politicians, are trying to tell us the economy is on the upswing. They are stating this while at the same time, jobs nation-wide are just not happening.
Not only are they not happening, in our opinion, they likely will not happen until our government begins to support small business instead of taxing and taxing small business.
Most businesses have had to cut and cut and all our government can do is to continue to grown government, go deeper in debt and give away to everyone except the ones that need the incentives to expand and grow.
Very little of the stimulus funds have impacted our community. We are aware of one stimulus program that has reached this community and at last check the only job created is the one director running the program.
Back to our opening statement. It is very nice to see the “now hiring” sign at Fruit of The Loom. This community is very fortunate to have all the employers we do. From the largest to the smallest, our business community is so appreciated.
