In Dec. 3 IssueOn Saturday, November 21st the Laker Swim Team hosted the Inaugural Laker Fall Preview at the Russell County Schools Natatorium.
The event opened with a presentation of the colors by Russell County High School Naval JROTC and Cheyenne Popplewell singing the National Anthem.
Deah Reese led the opening prayer, and Superintendant Scott Pierce greeted the audience and swimmers.
Alumni coaches and swimmers were recognized along with current coaches and swimmers.
The coaches, swimmers, and boosters would like to thank Joe Marcum, Susan Melton and Rita Branscum for all their assistance with the meet.
Laker Swimmers had a strong showing in the meet and placed 6th out of 17 teams.
Coach Lauren Wade said, “I’m very pleased with the outcome of our first meet in the natatorium.
“The team has been eagerly waiting to host a home swim meet. It’s great that we now have a facility to host a meet, especially a meet of large capacity.
In terms of the Laker swimmers, I am very proud. They swam well, improved their times, and we had several swimmers qualify for the afternoon session.”
