In Dec. 31 IssueIt seems like it was only a few years ago, but it was in 1969 when we first came to Russell County. We had been involved in the newspaper industry since our youth as we watched our father during his newspaper career.
We first came to Russell County to join Andrew Norfleet and the Times Journal staff convert the newspaper from a letterpress operation to the new offset method.
Since that first day in Russell County, we have never regretted the move as we have found this community to be most receptive and we are proud to call Russell County our home.
Our friends are here and our home is here.
This community has been most supportive not only to us but to our efforts as editor/publisher of The Times Journal and the Russell County News.
As we enter the year 2010 we wish to take this opportunity to thank everyone for all the support during these past forty years. Did we just say forty years! That seems totally impossible that many years have slipped behind us and that many issues of The Times Journal have passed by us.
Thanks Russell County, all the great people, the terrific support of the advertisers, subscribers and all others for the many years at the helm of this newspaper.
We have always endeavored to be fair and honest with the contents of this newspaper and we have always dedicated this newspaper to the progress of Russell County.
As we head to 2010, we wish all of you the very best in all you do and we ask for your continued support and friendship.
