A Russell Springs man was shot and killed Christmas night in the Cane Valley community of Adair County, according to Kentucky State Police.
Officials are continuing to investigate the shooting death of 35-year-old Bobby D. Bunch while no arrests have been made at this time.
The incident occurred just after 10 p.m. on Friday, state police said.
State police received a call from the Adair County Dispatch in reference to Bunch attempting to force his way into the residence of Michael Compton on Cane Valley Road in the neighboring county.
Upon arriving at the scene, Trooper James Richard found that shots had been fired and that Bunch had been struck by a bullet.
An autopsy was performed by the State Medical Examiner’s office in Louisville on Saturday with preliminary autopsy reports indicating that Bunch died of a single gunshot wound to the chest.
The case will be presented, at a yet to be determined date, to the Adair County Grand Jury for consideration. State Police Detective Mike Dubree is investigating the shooting.
