Feldhaus is region coach of year for 2nd time

In Feb. 25 Issue

For the second time in as many seasons, Russell County Head Boys Basketball Coach Willie Feldhaus has been selected by the Kentucky Association of Basketball Coaches as the 4th Region KABC Coach of the Year for the 2009-10 basketball season.

“I’m honored, quite honestly,” Feldhaus said after hearing word of the achievement.

“I have to say that it is because of the kids we have and that they are so coachable.”

Feldhaus in his fifth season as the Lakers head coach and has taken his team to the 4th region tournament four times and has won the 16th district championship twice going into this week’s district tournament.

“My dad told me that if I stay in it 25 more years I may not have another group of kids that buy into what you’re teaching like this group has,” he said.

“I think it is more of a credit to them than it is to me, so I’m just so proud of those guys.”
