Debbie Martin, a 26-year resident of Columbia, began work at the Russell Springs location in the Key Village Shopping Center on January 4.
“I started the new year off here,” she said.
“I love it here. It is a smaller clinic and an enjoyable work atmosphere.”
Martin, an advanced registered nurse practitioner, specializes in physical exams, women's care, preventative care, among other things.
She comes to the local location from Westlake Primary Care in Columbia, where she has worked for the previous 10 years.
Martin's first 12 years with the health care system she served as a nursing supervisor.
In all, Martin has more than two decades with the Westlake system.
In the last few months, though, Martin has had to develop new relationships with her patients.
“I'm developing a wider patient base,” she said as she adds to the number of those who traveled to Columbia from Russell Springs and now stay in-county for treatment.
“Every day I see new people,” she said.
“I just want to provide primary care to the rural population of Russell County.”
Martin, who is originally from Louisville, is married to Dwayne Martin, a part-time minister in music and a teacher at John Adair Intermediate in Columbia.
