In March 25 IssueThe Russell County Laker baseball team scored four runs in the bottom of the 7th inning to stun the visiting Campbellsville Eagles in the season opener at Laker Field.
Leading coach David Rexroat’s Lakers were Jared Coffey with two hits and Tyler Robertson, Zach Carney, Dillon Downey and Hunter Best with one hit each.
Coffey had two RBIs while Robertson, Downey and Taylor Hutchison each had one RBI.
Caleb Russell started on the hill for Russell County and was relieved by Hunter Best and Taylor Hutchison with the latter picking up his first win of the season.
The Laker junior varsity squad defeated the Eagles in the nightcap, 4-0.
Jared Coffey picked up the win on the mound for the Lakers.
The Lakers will return to action on Thursday at 5 p.m. as they host Monroe County.
