Here we are almost at the end of March and next month Cruise Ins and car shows will be getting under way. A while back I reminded you of some of the events that will be going on this summer with the Car Clubs and more.
I have had up-dates from a couple of the clubs and thought this might be a good time to let everyone know of the up-coming events for 2010.
These Cruise Ins and Car Shows are for everyone also, not just the car clubs. Plan on coming out and enjoying the old cars and music. It is a fun time for the whole family.
Starting with the first Friday of each month May through September the “OUTSIDERS” Car Club will be holding their Cruise Ins at Sonic in Russell Springs the same as last year. There will be the usual prizes given away, along with a cash prize each month also.
The 50’s gals will be selling the 50/50 tickets once again for the club. Music will be provided by Ron’s Rockin’ Oldies. All the best of the oldies of the 50’s through the 80’s.
The Second Friday of each month April through Sept will be a Block Party put on by Sonic Drive In in Russell Springs. I spoke with Manager of Sonic, Brandy who told me they are looking forward to a great year with the Block Parties.
This is always a fun night for all the clubs to get together and talk about their cars, where to find the parts they need and just great fellowship.
This year Sonic is planning their BIG Car Show on Sept 4th.
This year there will be plenty of trophies handed out along with Music by Ron’s Rockin’ Oldies. This is always a fun show and Brandy and the gang at Sonic plan to make it a special day for all..
One of the biggest changes in Shows this year will be The OL BOY’S TOY’S Car club Shows. As most of you know they have held their Car Shows every third Saturday of the Month at K Mart.
Their shows have grown over the years so they found it necessary to find a larger place to hold the shows. So make note that the Ol Boys Toys Car Shows will be held at “SONIC” this year. They have plenty of prizes to give away this year along with their 50/50 raffle. Denver Wilson will be providing the Music for their shows once again this year. Something new this year for the club will be dash plaques handed out to the first 50 entries of each show.
The Meeting Place in Jamestown Kentucky has added a night for the classic cars and hot rods also. Every third Saturday evening will be Classic Car Club night at the Center. Bring your cars out and show them in the large parking lot in front. Cars can start arriving at 5 PM. This all free.
They have a snack bar there for food and soft drinks so there is plenty to eat. Then at 7:00 PM Rockin Ron will be playing music in the center of the 50’s through the 80’s along with Karaoke for anyone who wants to sing.
There is a prize for the best singer of the night that you will have the chance to vote on.
Admission to this part of the program is $5.00 BUT if you bring your classic car two can get in for the price of one.
It’s always a fun time. The Center has Karaoke every Saturday night but set aside the third Saturday of each month for Classic Car Clubs. You don’t have to be a member of a club to show your car. Just come out and have some fun and bring the family.
Then The Masonic Lodge will have their show for this year on Main Street in Russell Springs on May 29th.
That will be held during the day with trophies given away also. Last year the weather did not co-operate to well but in spite of the wet weather there was still a great turn out for the show. The nice thing about this show is ALL proceeds will be given to Charity.
Music once again this year will be provided by Ron’s Rockin Oldies. Mark that day on your calendar also..
That’s about all I have for right now but there are plenty of other Shows to tell you about as soon as I get the information on them. Each year “ANOTHER LEVEL” put’s on a great show. I will pass that information on to you as soon as I have all the details.
We told you about The Lakefest Car Show sponsored by Lake Cumberland Classic Cars on July 3rd at the Jamestown Elementary school.
This show is for all original cars. No hot rods at this show.
The cars will be as close to the day they came off the production line as possible. This is always a fun show to attend also. Well that about covers it for this week.
Till next time “Keep Cruisin”
