On Tuesday at approximately 3 a.m., a 25-year-old woman arrived at the Russell County Hospital in reference to an alleged sexual assault. Kentucky State Police Detective B.J. Burton investigated the allegations and Torry Ryder, 41, of Russell Springs was subsequently arrested.
Ryder was charged with attempted rape 1st degree, sodomy 1st degree, and unlawful imprisonment 1st degree.
Burton said the charges stem from allegations that Ryder forcefully restrained the woman, who was described as an acquaintance, and tried to force her to have sex. Though the woman was allegedly violated, rape charges could not be brought based on the specifics of the allegations and evidence.
Ryder was lodged in the Russell County Jail. Detective Burton is continuing the investigation.
