What began as a small event in 1986 has now blossomed into one of the largest events of it’s kind in the country, and as in past years, volunteers and staff are excitedly gearing up for the 24th Annual Catch A Rainbow Kids Fishing Derby. This year’s event is scheduled for Saturday, June 5th, 2010. Location will be at Wolf Creek National Fish Hatchery.
Last year’s event included approximately 1,675 participating children alone, and support and planning for the event came about through the generous donations of more than a hundred volunteers and over one hundred sponsors. Because of such immense support, the events offers fishing, prizes, trophies, food and much more at no charge. If you would like to make a donation or volunteer to help with the derby, please give feel free to contact the hatchery at 270-343-3797.
The derby is hosted by the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service, Wolf Creek National Fish Hatchery and the Friends of Wolf Creek NFH, Inc.
