The past week has been kind to the Russell County Laker baseball team as they have ripped off four straight wins since last Thursday.
With two of the victories coming over district opponents Cumberland and Clinton counties, the Lakers now set at 3-0 in district play and 14-3 overall.
The other two wins this past week came at the expense of Southwestern and Barren County.
At this point in the season, coach David Rexroat’s club is being led in RBIs by senior Bryson McFall with 11 and led in battin average by sophomore Hunter Best with a .509 average.
The Lakers are led on the mound by freshman Tyler Robertson, junior Martin Cross and junior Taylor Hutchison, each of whom have three wins this season.
Both sophomore Caleb Russell and Robertson have an earned run average of 0.33.
The Lakers host district foe Metcalfe County on Thursday at Laker Field before heading to Louisville this weekend to participate in the Louisville Invitational against DeSales, Holy Cross and Johnson Central.
