In April 22 IssueThe victim of a fatal one-car crash Friday in Hamilton County, Indiana was an aspiring musician and a nephew of country star, Steve Wariner.
Initially, Hamilton County wouldn't officially identify the accident victim until Monday, but an area television station, reported that family members confirmed the victim was Matt Wariner, 28, Noblesville Indiana.
Witnesses told police the 2008 Ford Focus was traveling "at a high rate of speed" when it crashed into trees along 191st Street between Cyntheanne and Prairie Baptist roads about 12:15 p.m. Friday, according to a news release from the Hamilton County Sheriff's Department.
"The vehicle skidded off the south side of the roadway, striking two utility poles and several pine trees,'' according to the release. "The vehicle broke apart and (erupted) into flames upon initial impact. Witnesses at the scene were unable to assist the driver due to the intensity of the flames."
Matt Wariner was called a serious musician who showed talent, according to some family members. His well-known uncle praised his nephew as a "beautiful kid."
"I loved Matt's passion and enthusiasm for music. He came about it naturally, growing up in our musical family. In fact, he had his guitar and amp in the car with him at the time of the accident, getting ready for a show that night,” Steve Wariner said.
“Matt always knew what I was up to with my career-where I was playing, if I had a new record out, if I was doing TV or shooting a video, whatever,” he said.
“I was always proud that Matt was proud of me. He had a big heart and a terrific sense of humor. He was full of life, and we just can't believe that his life was cut so short. Someone said to me this weekend that our loss is heaven's gain, and I couldn't agree more."
