In April 29 IssueThe Russell County High School basketball team and cheerleaders held their banquet for the 2009-10 season this past Sunday at the high school.
Senior Zach Carney earned the award for highest field goal percentage and most rebounds while seniors Bryson McFall and Adam Justice tied for the highest 3 pt. field goal percentage. McFall also got the team award for most assist.
Senior Robbie Bell earned the highest free throw percentage, most steals and most points. Senior Jordan Best earned the Earl Aaron award.
In cheerleading, Chelsie Martin earned the most improved award while Cody Onyon Katlin Blakey shared the most outstanding award.
Kaitlyn Bolin and Cassandra Conner earned the 110 percent awards while Erin Whittle and Kisha Fletcher earned the coaches award.
Chelsey Roy won the best flipper, jumper and stunter award while Whitney Grider and Codey Bell won the leadership awards.
Numerous members of both teams were also given academic awards if they maintained a GPA of 3.5 or above. Principal Darren Gossage, coach Willie Feldhaus and coach Teresa Ellis spoke at the banquet.
