The Russell County Laker baseball team’s record now stands at 15-4 overall with a 4-0 record in district play.

Last Thursday the Lakers defeated the visiting Metcalfe County Hornets at Laker Field, 3-1.

Hunter Best picked up the win on the mound for Russell County. Freshman Tyler Robertson came in relief and picked up the save.

Blake Aaron had two hits and one RBI while Dillon Downey had one hit and two RBI in the game.

The Russell County junior varsity also defeated Metcalfe by a score of 9-3. Cody Robertson picked up the win on the mound while Evan Selby had two RBI in the game.

Over the weekend the Lakers traveled to Louisville to play in the Louisville Invitational. In the first game, Russell County fell to DeSales 6-4. The two remaining games were rainouts as storms passed through the metro area on Saturday afternoon.

Russell County’s scheduled games for earlier this week were also canceled due to inclement weather.
