The Lady Laker varsity squad now has an 8-20 record on the season with a 3-3 district record.
The Lady Lakers will honor their seniors, Kyla Thomas, Jenna Burris and Lacey Holt, this Friday at Lady Laker Field before their 5 p.m. game with Danville.
The Russell County Laker baseball team won a big game, 17-3, over the visiting Taylor County Cardinals on Tuesday evening at Laker Field.
The Laker bats and tough pitching forced the Cardinals into submission and the game was called after five innings.
Last Thursday, the Lakers dropped a heartbreaker at home on Senior Night against the Wayne County Cardinals, 8-6, in eight innings.
Coach David Rexroat’s squad remains in the top-25 in the state and will look to remain on top in the post-season.
The Lakers, who are 23-8 overall and 6-0 in the district, have three more regular season games before 16th district tournament action begins on May 24 at Clinton County High School.
