In May 27 IssueIn heartbreaking fashion, the Russell County Lady Laker softball team fell to Clinton County, 6-5, in eight innings in the opening round of 16th district tournament action at Clinton County High School on Tuesday night.
Russell County got off to a good start, hammering out three runs in the first inning before the Lady Bulldogs battled back that same inning.
It was a slugfest for the remaining portions of the game as the Lady Lakers pushed back ahead again, forcing the extra inning. Clinton County would go on to score in the extra inning, though, to give them the win.
The loss ends the season for the 10-21 Lady Lakers who say goodbye to seniors Kyla Thomas, Lacey Holt and Jenna Burris.
