In June 10 IssueThis community should be very proud to have such a great resource of talented and giving people.
It take a great resource of talented people to produce such a variety of events as this community enjoys.
The Russell Springs festival we just enjoyed was a great success and an enjoyable community event.
It takes a lot of work and a lot of planning to produce such an event.
Granted, it is not a necessity and the community would survive without any of these events, but is a time the community can come together and spend a few hours of fellowship and entertainment while coming together.
The Russell County Fair is underway and we know from first hand experience just how many hours of hard work it takes to present this event to the community. The Jaycees give hours and hours of their time, energy and talents to the community in bringing this event.
The Jamestown Fourth of July Festival known as Lakefest is another great example.
This event takes hours and hours of planning and many man hours of labor to plan and present.
There are other community event throughout the year that are examples of people caring and people giving. The annual Cancer Walk-of-Life, The Heart Association and even down to the cake sales and the candy sales.
These events takes times and energy and in all cases it is simply people helping people.
Plus, it gives a community a time to come together and a time to see their friends and neighbors.
Today we rarely slow down enough to even speak to our neighbors. These events give us a reason to pause, take a few minutes and find ourselves and enjoy life without the problems of the day.
We thank the many, many people, that each year give of their time so that all of us can benefit and have a time of enjoyment.
