"We've got the paperwork available here at the clerk's office," said County Clerk Lisha Popplewell. "All they have to do is come in and pick the forms up, have the petitions filled out and signed and then get them back in time for me to clock them by 4 O'clock."

Popplewell said there have been a number of individuals who have filed for seats on the Russell Springs City Council.

David C. Blakey, Lisa Mann, Timmy Hudson and Ricky Barnes had their paperwork completed and filed by Tuesday afternoon, and Mayor Hollis DeHart has his in as well.

She said that in Jamestown Terry Lawless has filed for the mayor's position and no one has filed for the council seats.

"Seats 2 and 4 on the school board are on the ballot this year as well," Popplewell said.

Those are the seats presently held by Steve Kerr and board chairman Clifford Wilson.

Popplewell said no one has filed for those races as of Tuesday evening.

She said that on August 10th, all petitions must be signed and turned in at her office before 4 p.m.
