In July 22 IssueOfficials at the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Nashville District announced recently that the Kendall Campground will remain open through Labor Day.
Earlier this year, the Corps announced that the main camping area - campsites 1 through 84 - at Kendall would be closed for utility repair work beginning August 1, 2010.
Due to delays issuing construction contracts, the Corps reported they have decided to keep the area open until construction begins.
"We're trying to keep as many camping sites as possible available for our customers during this process," said Brett Call, Lake Cumberland Resource Manager. "Due to the circumstances, it's difficult to know exactly when the work will begin and there are a number of variables at play. We are aware of this inconvenience for our visitors and their vacation planning around this work."
