In July 29 IssueThe Russell County 15 year old Babe Ruth All-Stars played in the East Kentucky Babe Ruth State Tournament at Bath County beginning last Thursday July 22 against Montgomery County and came away with a big win.
The starting pitcher was Lucas Williams and closing pitcher was Dylan Kerr.
The team played again on Saturday morning, July 24 against Northern Lexington coming away with another win with Brett Kimbler pitching the entire game.
The team lost a heartbreaker to Southern Lexington on Saturday afternoon.
They played again Sunday night against Somerset-Pulaski but were unable to pull off the win.
The young all-star team placed 3rd in the state tournament which is something to be very proud of as there were several teams there from much larger cities.
Russell County fans were in the running for being the most school-spirited.
The parents would like to say how proud we are of our boys for playing so hard, showing such dedication and team spirit.
Thanks also goes out to the loyal fans who made the long drive to cheer the team on and to the coaches, Justin Sullivan, Jeron "Ted" Dunbar, Brent Kimbler and bookeeper Troy Coffey.
