In Aug. 12 IssueWith the passing of the deadline there were several additions to the ballot for local elections this week.
In addition to a full slate of incumbents on both city councils there were a few challengers.
In Jamestown, David Lawless, Marcelene Taylor, Terry E. Robertson, Larry Joe Murray, Harold "Frog" Miller, and George Ralph Garr were the returning incumbents. Challengers Carolyn Williams and Bill Hunter were recent additions to the list.
There were no challengers for the mayor's race, as Terry K. Lawless is the only entrant in that race, one vote will win it for him this November.
There is a race for the mayor's seat in Russell Springs as incumbent Hollis DeHart is being challenged my Lilliard Pettyjohn. Pettyjohn ran for council in the last election and garnered negative attention for a claim that he had won the Congressional Metal of Honor while serving in the Navy.
In that city's council race the incumbents Ray Barrett, David C. Blakey, Timmy Hudson, Eric Selby, Lisa Mann, and Ricky Barnes were joined by challenger Eddie Thomas.
In the school board race Steve Kerr is in incumbent in the 2nd district and the only entrant.
The 4th district race is between incumbent Clifford Wilson, and challengers Nancy A. Eastham and Richard "Dick" Kazsuk.
Running for soil district are Sandra Voils, with Michael Rexroat, Bryan Smith and Darrell Selby.
