Former Lakers on Lindsey Wilson College football team

In Aug. 26 Issue

Former Russell County Laker football standouts Chris Hammond and Jordan Best are members of this year’s Lindsey Wilson College football team.

The two helped LWC to a victory in Sunday's Scrimmage against Atlanta Sports Prep.

LWC kicks off the regular season on Sept. 4th at 1:30 p.m. as they host Notre Dame College. Football was discontinued after the 1935 season but returns this season, almost 75 years after the college's last home football game.

“Our motto for this season from day one has been earn it,” said LWC coach Chris Oliver. “It's something we will talk about every day. From playing time, to wins, to preseason conference rankings, we have to go out on the field and earn it.”
