The Russell County Grand Jury returned indictments against seven people this week, which included charges of assault, burglary, marijuana cultivation and trafficking and forgery, according to circuit court records.

One of the indictments was sealed with the name of the individual charged and the charges to be made public once that person is taken into custody.

The following people were indicted:

• Justin Walters, 21, was charged with two counts of first degree assault, DUI third offense, driving on DUI suspended license second offense and being a persistent felony offender, first degree.

• John D. Adams, 28, was charged with third degree burglary, theft by unlawful taking of less than $500 and second degree criminal mischief.

• David Scott Corbin, 31, was charged with the cultivation of marijuana second offense, receiving stolen property over $500 and being a persistent felony offender, second degree.

• Hunter Tarter, 21, was charged with trafficking in eight or more ounces, but less than five pounds, of marijuana.

• Roger D. Hall, 43, was charged with fraud or false statement in obtaining benefits of more than $100.

• Crystal Faye Doak, 31, was charged with 13 counts of second degree forgery, fraudulent use of a credit card under $100, theft by unlawful taking under $500 and being a persistent felony offender, first degree.

Readers are reminded that indictment by a grand jury is an accusation and does not imply guilt. The indictment indicates the jury believed that enough evidence existed to support the charges that a trial was warranted.
