In Sept. 16 IssueIn conjunction and support of the upcoming Russell Springs Haunted House, the people of Russell County have a limited chance of being involved in a real ghost hunt on October 1st, according to local magician and escape artist Aron Houdini, a member of the Russell Springs Downtown Revitalization committee.
The SyFy Channel's Keith Age, along with other ghost hunters and Houdini, will be demonstrating equipment and showing evidence of ghosts during a special show at the Star Theater on Oct.1 at 6 p.m.
Admission to the Star Theater show is $10 at the door while tickets to the actual ghost hunt later that night is $20 and is very limited, Houdini said.
Age has appeared in many horror films such as The Death Tunnel, Spooked, Children of the Grave, The Possessed. His latest film, Haunted Boy, is set to air on SyFy in October. It is slated to be a true story behind the making of The Exorcist. He will be available after the show for questions and a meet and greet session with attendees.
Houdini said he began working in the "ghost hunting" business when SyFy producers the Booth brothers asked him to film a scene where he would be escaping a straight jacket while they performed a paranormal investigation at Alcatraz several years ago.
He has recently worked with Ghost Hunters International, Ghost Hunters and Ghost Lab and is currently a spokesperson for DAS distributors, a paranormal-based company specializing in paranormal investigating tools.
Houdini said they will be bringing tools to the Star Theater performance and the actual ghost hunt that are currently only used by Ghost Adventures, Ghost Lab and Ghost Hunters.
After the Star Theater show, the ghost hunters will be traveling to a hot spot for paranormal activity, the McGaha house, which was featured recently on A&E's Paranormal State. The home is believed by some to be haunted by the ghost of Mammie Womack.
There will be two hunts at the location, one from 9 p.m. until 11 p.m. and another from 11:30 p.m. to 1:30 a.m.
Tickets for the ghost hunt can be purchased at Country Folks Realty and Auction on Hwy. 80 in Russell Springs, just passed Save-a-lot.
Folks who purchase tickets to the ghost hunt will have a chance at working with Keith Age and other notable ghost hunters as well as using their high dollar equipment. Each person can interact with professional ghost hunters and participate in a real paranormal investigation.
