In Oct. 7 IssueMore than 100 people participated in the Pro-Life Memorial Day Walk from the courthouse in Jamestown to Minit Mart on Monday night.
The event was hosted by the ARC Pregnancy Support Center in Russell Springs.
"This walk was held to commemorate the 53 million lives lost to abortion in the last 37 years," said Vonda Carter, director of the center.
"By taking part in this national walk, Russell County has shown great support in the fight against abortion. "
Carter said several area churches as well as some of the local candidates attended the event.
"We raised approximately $3,000 and had over 150 people who signed up to walk," Carter said.
"All proceeds go to ARC to support and encourage the women and babies in our community. "
Carter sent out a big thank you to Bethesda Community Fellowship. The church raised the most money through the efforts of their congregation, she said.
