In Oct. 28 IssueNext Tuesday is a most important day, time to select your choice for our upcoming leadership.
Senior readers will remember the founder of this publication, Andrew Norfleet, was at his best during election times.
Of course, we must add that his political track record was not the greatest in selecting winning candidates, he was always involved and he enjoyed his involvement.
It is everyone’s duty to get involved so do not forget to get to the polls next Tuesday.
If you know you cannot get there, there is an absentee voting machine available and Lisha Popplewell tells me she will see that you can place you vote by coming to the clerk’s office.
You must have a legitimate excuse you will not be available to vote on Tuesday. While we have traditionally not endorsed local races, we must add at this time our endorsement for Rand Paul and Edward Whitfield.
We feel Ed Whitfield has proven himself time after time to have a sincere interest in Russell County and has always responded to any question or concern that we have had. He has always demonstrated his interest with Russell and adjoining counties and we must say, we have never met a U. S. Representative that is always available. We must also place our vote for Rand Paul. As much as anything, we base this decision on the fact Rand Paul stands for a change from the politics as usual and a Senator that will speak up for this change. Again, we urge all of you to place your vote.
When it comes to local candidates, we feel newspapers should not express a difference and these men and women are our neighbors and friends and it should be our individual decision to select the best candidate to represent us.
