In Oct. 28 Issue

The Russell County Grand Jury returned indictments against 24 individuals after meeting in their regular monthly session on Tuesday, with the indictments ranging from charges of manufacturing meth to criminal and sexual abuse, among others, according to circuit court records.

The grand jury declined to return true bills on two individuals while one of the indictments was sealed, pending the apprehension of the person charged, according to Circuit Clerk Tony Kerr.

The following individuals were indicted by the grand jury:

David Stargle, 38, for manufacturing methamphetamine 1st offense and second degree being a persistent felony offender.

Michael Glover, 28,  for first degree wanton endangerment, first degree fleeing or evading police, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct, two counts of fourth degree assault, alcohol intoxication and second degree being a persistent felony offender.

Larry R. Appleby, 48, for second degree trafficking in a controlled substance, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a police radio.

Melissa Finch, 50, for second degree trafficking in a controlled substance, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a police radio.

Samantha Popplewell, 21, for first degree criminal abuse.

Jason Popplewell, 32, for first degree criminal abuse.

Tony Pruitt, 33, for manufacturing methamphetamine, first degree trafficking in a controlled substance.

Michael S. Nichols, 23, for manufacturing methamphetamine, first degree trafficking in a controlled substance and first degree being a persistent felony offender.

Jake McEndree, 30, for manufacturing methamphetamine and first degree trafficking in a controlled substance.

Nicholas Kinnett, 31, for flagrant non-support of a child.

Readers are reminded that indictment by a grand jury is an accusation and does not imply guilt. The indictment indicates the jury believed that enough evidence existed to support the charges that a trial was warranted.
