In Nov. 18 IssueThis has been a very exciting week at The Times Journal and The Russell Register. The Times Journal purchased the Russell Register and there are several exciting changes forthcoming for the two newspapers.
It is going to take us a few weeks to implement the new plans and we ask you to be patient with us during this period.
The number of pages may be smaller than normal during this period, as we will actually be publishing three newspapers, and some regular features may not be seen on a weekly schedule but plans include a reshaping of both newspapers to produce a twice weekly publication.
Within the next two or three weeks, changes will be implemented and you will begin receiving The Times Journal on the same schedule you are now. The Russell Register will be published and available on Friday’s on the newsstand and Saturday in regular mail delivery.
There will be no additional subscription charges and if you were a subscriber to either one of the newspapers, you will now begin to receive both.
It is our purpose to create a newspaper community that you will be proud of with positive benefits. When completed you will have newspaper coverage twice a week both as a subscriber and as an advertiser. In addition you will have a complete total market coverage publication if this is in your business advertising plan.
It will likely be two to three weeks before the changes will be noted and the twice weekly schedule implemented.
We ask you read the front page story for complete details or if you have questions, give us a call at either office, Russell Springs or Jamestown, 343-6397 or 866-3191.
David Davenport, Russell County and Patsy Judd of Cumberland County are the owners of The Times Journal and Russell Register and both report they are extremely proud to be able to combine these two newspapers and increase news coverage to the twice a week schedule.
We appreciate any suggestion you may have and look forward to getting all the new and exciting changes implemented.
Thanks,
David Davenport,
Publisher
