Noted guide service finds home at Lee’s Ford
In Nov. 24 Issue

Last week, nearby Lee's Ford Resort Marina and StriperFun Guide Service announced that the marina is now the headquarters for the popular Lake Cumberland striper guide service.

"We are so excited to be partnering with Captain Jim Durham and StriperFun Guide Service," said Bobby Maynard, the marina manager at Lee's Ford. "I have known Captain Jim for years and he and StriperFun are a well established part of the Lake Cumberland region and community."

Maynard said Durham and StriperFun has developed a terrific reputation and strong following on Lake Cumberland as the guide service of choice for families, corporate groups and anglers of all ages seeking a safe and quality fishing trip experience.

"Lee's Ford is very happy to have Captain Jim Durham and StriperFun Guide Service headquartered with us and we are very pleased that our slip customers and visitors can have such a quality guide service available right here," he said.

StriperFun Guide Service is the largest and one of the best known and respected fishing guide services on Lake Cumberland, according to Durham.

"As StriperFun has continued to grow over the years, it was time we chose a marina to be our home and headquarters," Durham said. "Lee's Ford Resort Marina has developed into the premier vacation and weekend get away spot on Lake Cumberland. Being nearly an hour closer than other marina's to StriperFun's customer base to the north, when coupled with such friendly service, a fabulous restaurant  and great lodging, Lee's Ford was the obvious choice for StriperFun. I am excited to have StriperFun Guide Service headquartered at Lee's Ford and to be working with Bobby Maynard to provide Lee's Ford slip customers and visitors with high quality and safe fishing adventures on beautiful Lake Cumberland."

With four guides and a 5th guide due to come aboard in the spring of 2011, StriperFun runs nearly 500 fishing charters a year.

All StriperFun captains are Federal Coast Guard Certified and state licensed, insured and are well trained with no less than 20 years experience on Lake Cumberland per man. All StriperFun boats have the most modern electronics, fishing gear and Coast Guard safety equipment and are covered in inclement weather for customer comfort, Durham said.

Specializing in trophy Striper fishing as the owner of StriperFun Fishing Guide Service, Durham also owns Captain Jim Marine Electronics and Captain Jim Special fishing lures. He is a Kentucky native and state licensed guide who has fished Lake Cumberland year round for more than 45 years.  As Member of Team Evinrude, Durham is a U.S. Coast Guard Merchant Marine Captain, a Coxswain Patrol Officer with the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary and is also the creator of the "Striper Fish like a Pro" instructional DVD series.

As one of the most comprehensive recreation, entertainment and dining experiences on Lake Cumberland, Lee's Ford Resort Marina offers fantastic dining at the Harbor Restaurant, great lodging in beautiful cottages, condos and rentals on boat slips, personal watercraft and boats of various sizes.  It is also the closest marina to visitors from Lexington and Ohio, according to Bobby Maynard, the marina manager at Lee's Ford.
