In My Opinion ... by Ron Phillips

What has America become?

This question was addressed in a letter to the editor from Ken Huber, Tawas City, MI earlier this year. This is a question that I ponder on often! Here is what Mr. Huber had to say;

What has America become?

Has America become the land of the special interest and home of the double standard?

Let's see: If we lie to the Congress it's a felony and if the Congress lies to us it's just politics.

If we dislike a black person, we're racist and if a black person dislikes whites it's his First Amendment right.

The government spends millions to rehabilitate criminals and does almost nothing for the victims.

In public schools you can teach that homosexuality is OK but you'd better not use the word "God" in the process.

You can kill an unborn child, but it's wrong to execute a mass murderer.

We don't burn books in America - we now rewrite them. We got rid of the communist and socialist threat by renaming adherents "progressives."

We are unable to close our border with Mexico, but have no problem protecting the 38th parallel in Korea.

If you protest against President Obama's policies you're a terrorist, but if you burned an American flag or George Bush in effigy it was your First Amendment right.

You can have pornography on TV or the Internet, but you'd better not put a Nativity scene in a public park during Christmas.

We have eliminated all criminals in America - they are now called sick people. We can use a human fetus for medical research, but it's wrong to use an animal.

We take money from those who work hard for it and give it to those who don't want to work. We all support the Constitution, but only when it supports our political ideology.

We still have freedom of speech, but only if we are being politically correct. Parenting has been replaced with Ritalin and video games. The land of opportunity is now the land of handouts.

The similarity between Hurricane Katrina and the gulf oil spill is that neither president did anything to help.

And how do we handle a major crisis today?

The government appoints a committee to determine who's at fault, then threatens them, passes a law, raises our taxes, and tells us the problem is solved so incumbents can get back to their reelection campaigns.

What has happened to the land of the free and the home of the brave?

I feel certain that there is a large gap occurring in our Great Republic today and I'm not certain that it can be closed.

The concerns and examples that Ken Huber references are as always subject to debate, but we as a nation have allowed a small group of individuals to penetrate the very foundation of what this country was built upon.

Like a cancer, if left to grow, it will eventually consume the entire body.

Those of us that were around in the 60's have a better understanding of Communism and the factions that have dedicated their lives to trying to bring us down.

The United States will always be targeted by extremist as long as we remain the dominate power in the world.

People like George Soros by his own words feel that the American People should not have the right to elect our own Congress and leaders.

This is a task that is better suited by Mr. Soros's new world order!

For those of you that are not familiar with this man, George Soros, born August 12, 1930, as George Schwartz is a Hungarian-American financier, businessman and notable philanthropist focused on supporting liberal ideals and causes. Soros became known as "the Man Who Broke the Bank of England" after he made a reported $1 billion during the 1992 Black Wednesday United Kingdom currency crises.

He correctly anticipated that the British government would have to devalue the pound sterling and he literally broke the Bank of England.

Soros is now focused on removing the only obstacle in his way establishing globalization and that would be us, the United States!

"America will never be destroyed from outside. If we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves." -Abraham Lincoln
