This week marks the first issue of The News-Register. This name comes following the acquisition of The Russell Register by the Times Journal Publishing Co., and the new format comes following the decision to provide Russell County with twice a week newspaper coverage.

Subscribers to The Times Journal will still receive this newspaper on regular schedule. Russell Register subscribers will now receive the new Russell County News-Register on Saturday and will be on the newsstands on Friday.

News will not be repeated in either edition as all subscribers will now receive both.

Subscriptions to both newspapers in the past totaled $36. Under this new arrangement, a subscription to both will be only $26.

The special price will be held for a period of time to allow subscribers  ample time to appreciate the all new twice a week schedule.

The Russell County News will no longer appear on Saturday and instead those none subscribers to either newspaper will receive a special section containing a portion of the News-Register along with sale inserts and special promotion circulars.

Previously everyone in the county received the Russell County News whether or not they subscribed to any newspaper.

Now, as the new Saturday schedule allows, only non-subscribers will receive the new “Register Plus” section as this section is also a part of the News-Register.
