The RCHS Laker swim team rocked the blocks at Region 3 competition Feb-11-12, 2011 in Versailles.

The Lakers had 6 Relays and 16 individual events in the finals with the Mens 200 Free Relay and the Womens 400 Free Relay both qualifying for the State Meet Feb. 25-26 on the U of L Campus.

The Lakers are currently in their 11th season and this is the second Mens relay to qualify for state and the first Girls relay to qualify.

Members of the Relays qualifying for state and their alternates are Cody Nolen, Matt Ryan, Dakota Meece, Dustin Ballenger, Robbie Darnell, Rachel Haynes, Becca Haynes, Ciara Kimes, Jessica Jones, Molly McQueary and Morgan Emerson.

Those swimmers competing in the finals were Rachel Haynes, Becca Haynes, Jordan Loy, Ciara Kimes, Jessica Jones, Coy Comer, Dakota Meece, Jacob burton, Robbie Darnell, Cody Nolen, Dylan Coffey, Matt Ryan, Dustin Ballenger. The Laker swim team posted many personal best times as well as setting new team records at the Regional Meet .

The new records were set by Jessica Jones 50 Free, Robbie Darnell 200 IM and the Womens 400 Free Relay of Rachel Haynes, Becca Haynes, Ciara Kimes and Jessica Jones. This is the second year for Head Coach Lauren Wade and Assistant Coach Debbie Loy and the second year of training for the Lakers in the new Russell County Natatorium.

"I cannot express how proud I am of our team," Wade said. "They swam fast in the pool and represented Russell County very well in the pool and out. We got many compliments on how great our swimmers are."
