In March 19 IssueSeveral recent mobile home fires in Russell Springs kept the local fire department busy earlier this week, according to Fire Chief H.M. Bottom.
On Tuesday afternoon, the Russell Springs Fire Department was called out around 3:45 p.m. to a fire on Voils Rd, where a rental trailer owned by Tommy Voils and occupied by Wayne and Melissa Finchum was engulfed in flames. No one was home at the time of the fire and the trailer was a complete loss, according to Bottom.
He said a nearby trailer received minor damage from the blaze and that the fire in the Finchum trailer was believed to be electrical in nature but is still under investigation. The RSFD was on scene for about an hour and a half.
Fire also destroyed a mobile home and damaged another Sunday afternoon in the Jericho part of the county. In that fire, Bottom said the trailers belonged to Arvin Stargle and were several feet apart.
One of the homes was engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived around 4:30 p.m.
The fire spread to the second trailer but was extinguished and resulted in only minor damage, Bottom said.
No one was home at the time of the Sunday fire either, Bottom said.
The fire remains under investigation but foul play is not suspected, according to Bottom. Firefighters were also on the scene Sunday for an hour and a half.
