Spring was here for a few days, and we keep reminding we should just hang on because it will certainly be back soon.

All of us are more than ready for the warmer weather and the activities of summer.

We were reminded this week of one such event we can look forward to and that is the Jaycee Russell County Fair.

Jaycees are already busy making preparations for this year’s event. They are preparing the catalog for the event and in doing so are soliciting sponsors.

The Russell County Fair is  one of the few that continues to be recognized among the top in the state. So many fairs are falling by the wayside as games, videos, theme parks and others events are so numerous.

The idea of a community fair is based on an idea that should be preserved and that is the idea of community fellowship and a place to relax and a place to display your talents, crafts and energy.

Many, many hours of fellowships have been spent under the bid trees at the fairgrounds and many hours of labor has been spent in making this a reality.

We commend the Jaycees for continuing their endeavor with the fair and we urge everyone to support them in what way they many find, whether it be a sponsor, an attendee or just a kind word.
