Last week Coach David Rexroat's Laker baseball team went 3-0 as they picked up two district wins over Clinton County and Cumberland County as well as a victory at Campbellsville.
The Thursday win over Clinton County came in the final inning as Blake Aaron doubled home two runs in the bottom of the seventh, it was the Lakers' only hit of the game.
Taylor Hutchison pitched the complete game for Russell County with seven strikeouts to pick up the win.
On Tuesday the Lakers picked up a road win at Burkesville as they defeated the Panthers 4-1. Evan Selby went 3-3 with one RBI and two stolen bases in the win.
Tyler Robertson had a single and a triple with one RBI while Hutchison also had a RBI as did Jaylen Bennett, who had a single in the game. Garret Stephens and Hunter Best both also had hits in the game.
Best pitched the complete game to pick up the victory on the mound as he struck out 10 Panthers en route to the victory.
The victory over Campbellsville was chronicled in last week's Times Journal.
On Monday of this week the Lakers traveled to Adair County to face the Indians where they came up short 9-6. The Lakers get a rematch against their rival on May 2 at Laker Field.
In junior varsity action, the Lakers defeated Clinton County 13-0 with Brett Kimbler and Jacob Blakey with three RBI each. Austin Hadley had two RBI in the game while Ben Bertram hit a triple in the game. Kimbler also picked up the win with seven strikeouts. In the JV game against Cumberland County the Lakers picked up the 7-2 victory as Lucas Williams struck out 12 batters for the win.
C.J. Bray had two RBI in the game while he, Blakey, Williams and Hadley each had four hits.
