In May 19 IssueOn May 10 the Russell County track and field team participated at Pulaski County High School and competed against 11 teams, placing 4th overall.
In girls action, Bailey Bean placed third and Bailey Phillips placed 4th in 100 M Intermediate Hurdles, Phillips also placed second in 300 M Low Hurdles while Bean finished 3rd in that event. Hillary Hamm finished 6th in the 100 M Dash while Emily York, Heather Sinclair, Bailey Bean and Bailey Phillips finished second in the 800 M Relay.
Heather Sinclair finished first in the 400 M Dash while Gabby Bean, Danielle Walters, Emily York and Maddie Blankenship finished 5th in the 3200 M Relay. York, Bean, Walters and Sinclair finished 4th in the 400 M Relay while Sinclair finished 5th overall in the 200 M Dash. Emily Wilson finished 5th in shot put and 3rd in discus.
In boys’ action, Blake Ellis was 4th in 100 M Intermediate Hurdles and 3rd in 300 M Low Hurdles. Nick Britt was third in the 100 M Dash. Ellis, Britt, Evan Fletcher and Trevor Robertson were 1st in the 800 M Relay while Jeron Hammond was 6th in the 400 M Dash.
Luis Medrano, Trevor Robertson, Christian Marson and Jacob Grimes placed 6th in the 3200 M Relay. In the 200 M Dash Nick Britt finished 5th and Fletcher 6th. Robertson was 5th in the 800 M Run while Matt Adams was 8th in shotput and 2nd in discus. Britt also won the long jump during the meet.
