In May 19 IssueRussell Springs City Council attended to general business in a brief, regularly scheduled meeting last week.
By unanimous vote, the city council voted to sponsor a Salute to the Class of 2011 to air once per day between May 18 and 27 between 5 a.m. and 10 p.m. on WJRS 104.9 Laker Country.
The council heard the first reading of Text Amendment 2011-04 Russell Springs Zoning Regulation relating to mobile home parks, travel trailer camp grounds, mobile homes and travel trailers.
"I will tell you this…a public hearing was held on this matter on April 28, 2011 with notice of same having been published in The Times Journal April 7, 2011," said Russell Springs Mayor Hollis DeHart.
He said the second reading will be heard at the next meeting and no vote was necessary at the May meeting.
Russell Springs City Pool is scheduled to open Saturday, May 28th beginning the summer season Memorial Day weekend.
Jeramy Coffey with the City of Russell Springs said there are a total of 16 pool employees including Sarah Shaw as this year's pool manager.
The council went into executive session as per KRS 61.810(1)b which covers the future acquisition or sale of property.
No action was taken during executive session.
