Russell County High School senior Tyla Bailey signed to play volleyball at Division I Murray St. on Monday at the high school alongside her parents, Kevin and Mary Lynn Bailey.

“I spent GSP there this past summer and I just loved it,” Bailey said. “The coaches contacted me and I said yes.”

Bailey said she and the Lady Laker volleyball coaching staff of Sarah Roy and Kelly Pierce had sent Murray St. some game film of her and that sealed the deal.

“I’ve set in on practice (at Murray) and it is a few steps up,” she said. “It will take a while to adjust.”

She said the coaches told her she would be working on gaining strength and developing her skill level more in hopes of playing as a true freshman next season.

“Its been fun here at RCHS,

 she said. “Three district titles, Ive enjoyed it.
