In June 23 IssueBy Kim GrahamTimes Journal ReporterRussell Springs City Council adopted Ordinance 11-06 Annual Budget for FY 2011-12 with total appropriations of $1.6 million at a special called meeting last Thursday.
"We brought forward a little over $500K," said Mayor Hollis DeHart. "Our budget is in good shape and we plan to keep it that way."
"We're very happy with the budget."
The city council also approved Amended Budget Ordinance 11-07 to account for estimated funds through June 30 which ends the current fiscal year.
DeHart said the city's budget was increased from last year by about $1,500 or so and included a cost-of-living pay increase of 1.5 percent for city employees.
At the council’s regular monthly meeting, Mayor Dehart said Russell Springs is a giving a cost of living salary increase.
Three or four city staff members were moved into another salary classification when they received the 1.5 percent increase requiring changes to the city’s pay schedule Dehart said.
Ordinance 11-05 Updating Pay/Classification Plan was unanimously accepted by the city council to account for city staff classification changes due to the salary increase.
At the meeting, the city council also heard the 1st reading of Ordinance 11-08 Russell Springs Comprehensive Plan.
