Last Friday evening, a traffic stop by Russell County Deputy Sheriff Nick Bertram netted two arrests on charges related to stolen ATV's.
"Clete (McAninch) observed the Ford F150 pickup truck traveling on Hwy 619 on Bernard Ridge pulling a trailer with three ATV's," said Bertram.
"We'd had numerous reports of stolen ATV's recently so Clete followed the truck."
Deputy Bertram made a traffic stop of the vehicle on the Cumberland Parkway.
"We ran the VIN numbers on two of the ATV's and they were entered as stolen," said Deputy Bertram.
He said two of the stolen ATV's were property of Stewart Greer of Knifley.
David Allan Wilson, age 25, of Russell Springs and Japeth Miller, age 21, of Jamestown were arrested and charged with receiving stolen property less than $10,000.
Both men were lodged in the Russell County Detention Center.
Officers are attempting to locate an owner of the third ATV described as a blue Yamaha 660R, according to Deputy Bertram.
Anyone with information regarding the ATV should contact Deputy Bertram at the Russell County Sheriff's office at 270-343-2191. Assisting Bertram were Deputy Clete McAninch, Russell County Sheriff's Office, Lee Smith, Adair County Sheriff's Office, and Det. Stotts with the Kentucky State Police.
